pH litmus paper variables
1- When testing stool, the center of the stool will be more acidic than the outer portions so a surface reading will be slightly more alkaline. A ‘smear’ is a better test.
2-The center of the reading will be more accurate than the edges of the paper.
3-Take the reading at no more than 10 seconds after the sample is tested.
As a general rule, a healthy body will produce urine that turns pH paper green, morning saliva that turns pH paper blue and stool that keeps the pH paper yellow. If you don’t get these values, see our protocol page.
